Loving Liv (Chaos MC #2) Read online

  “What do you mean?”

“My hand brushed hers when I grabbed the beer and I felt her tense up. At first, I thought she liked the contact,” he wiggles his eyebrows and I suppress the need to slap them right off of his face, “So I leaned in to ask how the first night was going. I must have gotten into her bubble or something. Read the situation wrong. She looked almost panicked. Started shaking a little. Only for a second though. I backed off and she went back to normal. Even gave me a little smile.”

“Huh. Wonder what her story is.”

I think back to when I held her hand and pulled her closer to me. She didn’t tense up or back away. Maybe she’s comfortable with me? Or maybe I just caught her off guard.

Slash just shrugs and sips his beer. More guys join our booth and we shoot the shit for the next few hours.

I keep an eye on Liv the whole time. She doesn’t seem scared. A little jumpy, like Slash said, but not scared. I observe that she doesn’t like being touched, even by other women. Stacy came back behind the bar to help her through a rush and they danced around each other. At one point, Stacy put her hand on Liv’s back and she tensed up. Another time, Stacy brushed her arm to get her attention and I saw Liv jerk her hand away. Soon, Liv got into a rhythm with Stacy and made calculated moves to avoid her. Not in a mean way; more like this is just how Liv operates. She observed Stacy and made a point to give her a wide berth.

The women joked and laughed and generally looked like they enjoyed one another. The patrons finally dwindled down, and Stacy removed her apron, leaning over to give Liv a hug. I saw Liv’s entire body tensed up and I had an urge to go over there and… I’m not sure. I wanted to do… something. I wanted to ease her discomfort somehow. I make my way up to the bar.

“Sorry, honey. Forgot you’re not a big hugger,” I hear Stacy say.

“Oh, it’s ok. I must just be out of practice or something,” Liv says, trying to play it off.

“You did good today. I told you it was a pretty easy job as long as you can handle these assholes,” Stacy says with a grin.

“Hey,” I chime in, “We’re not that bad, are we?”

Stacy snorts and Liv rolls her eyes at me. She seems totally comfortable now, and I know it probably has nothing to do with me, but I’m going to go ahead and count it as a win.

“Why don’t you head on out of here, honey? I can show you how to close up tomorrow?”

  “Are you sure?”

“Yup. I’ve got some help coming in about 10 minutes. Maybe Carter here can make sure you get home ok?” I swear Stacy winks at me.

“I’m a big girl, Stacey. I can make it home just fine.” Liv says more for my benefit, I think, than Stacy’s.

“Humor me then, dear. We just got you, can’t have anything taking you away, can we?”

Stacy is such a mother hen, but in the best, most charming way ever. Liv gets a strange look in her eyes – confusion? Wistfulness? Hope?

She just nods and heads for the door, not even waiting for me to catch up before walking outside.

I don’t mind. Like I said, I like the chase.

“Wait up there, love,” I call after her.

She spins around on her heel, hands on her hips, fire in her eyes. “For the last goddamn time, it’s Liv. I don’t do pet names. And I sure as fuck don’t do love.”

  There’s my feisty girl.

  Not that she’s my girl.

  Shit.

I just grin at her and walk up beside her, careful to keep my distance. “So, you have a car here, or what?”

  “Nope. I take the bus.”

“But… the bus stop is like half a mile away.”

“Right. Well, it’s a good thing I have legs then. All the easier to walk there with.” She grins at me and starts walking.

I can’t help but admire the view. She has legs alright.

“Can I give you a ride home? It’s late. And dark.” And I sound like an idiot, but I don’t want her walking alone out here. “I have a truck.”

She stops and turns around. “Um, no that’s ok.”

“But Stacy said I had to make sure you got home ok.”

Live quirks an eyebrow up. “And you always do what Stacy says?”

I grin. “Pretty much. You don’t wanna get on momma bear’s bad side.”

I take a few steps closer to Liv. I want to reach out and put my hand on the small of her back, guiding her over to my truck. Ok, fuck that, I want to throw her over my shoulder and toss her in the truck bed before stripping her clothes off and fucking her till she screams my name. But. First things first.

I put my hands in my pockets in an attempt to make her feel more comfortable.

Liv knits her eyebrows together and looks everywhere but at me.

“I uh, I… I don’t really do cars,” she finally says.

  “What do you mean?”

“I just, I mean, I don’t really like being in cars. The confined space or whatever. I just can’t. Busses are good though. Speaking of which, I better get going so I can catch mine.”

She spins around and practically jogs down the road.

“Hey! Wait up, Liv! Let me walk with you!”

Goddamn, this woman is literally making me chase her.

I catch up with her and she slows down to a walk.

“So. No cars. No Miley Cyrus. Anything else I should know about you?”

She looks over at me and smiles. A real smile. And it’s fucking gorgeous. Stunning. Breath taking, really. I plan to make her smile a lot more.

She lets out a deep breath and relaxes her shoulders.

“Hmmm…” She strokes her chin, imitating someone stroking their beard. It’s fucking adorable. “Nope. Those are my two most defining characteristics.”

“Oh, I don’t believe that for a second. I can think of a few other characteristics that define you.” I can’t help it. I sweep my gaze over her sweet curves and creamy skin. When I look back up at her face, I see a slight hint of pink on her cheeks.

I clear my throat. “So, uh, where do you live?”

  “Nope. Not telling you.”

  “What? Why not?”

She grins and rolls her eyes. “I’m not stupid enough to give a stranger my address! Besides. I’m new to town. Wouldn’t want anyone to get the wrong idea of me if I suddenly have a handsome gentleman caller on my front door.”

  “Handsome, huh?”

She scoffs. “Of course that is the one part of that sentence you would pick up on. I never took you as the type to fish for compliments. You must get told how hot you are all the time.”

She’s right, of course, but damn if it doesn’t do something to me to hear her say she thinks I’m handsome.

“You must know that since I am a man, my ego is very fragile. I need all of the reassurance I can get.”

She stops and laughs. Full on belly laughs, throwing her head back and wrapping her arms around her waist. It’s the best thing I’ve seen or heard all day. She’s captivating.

“Oh, god, that was… that was good. I didn’t expect that from you. I mean, it’s true, but most men are not that self-aware.”

  “That’s me.”

We walk in a comfortable silence for a few minutes. I notice Liv rubbing her arms, trying to warm them up. She’s just wearing a plain V-neck t-shirt and it is a little chilly out here.

“Here,” I take off my leather jacket and hold it out for her.

“Oh. No, that’s ok. We’re almost there.”

“C’mon, it’ll do my ego good to be chivalrous,” I say, shaking the jacket for emphasis. “Besides, it’ll totally score me brownie points with Stacy.”

Liv rolls her eyes but steps closer and grabs the jacket. She’s drowning in it, but it still looks hot as fuck to see her in my clothes.

  “Thanks.”

“Of course,” I smile at her, stealing one last look of her in my leather jacket. “So… where are you from? You said you were new in town?”

  “Yeah. I’m, ya know,
from around. Never really settled in one place long enough to be ‘from’ somewhere.”

That is an extremely vague and unsatisfying answer. That’s ok. I don’t mind working for it.

“Where’s the last place you lived? Before coming here, I mean.”

She tenses up and I have a feeling I pushed too hard. “I was down south.”

Another vague answer. I’ll have to be more subtle about getting information with her. Damn, I haven’t worked this hard for anything in a long time.

“Right. Well, I’ve been here ever since I got out of the military, about three years now.” I don’t so much see as I feel her relax once the spotlight isn’t on her anymore.

  “Military, huh? What branch?”

“Army. I got in right out of high school. I did four years and then reenlisted for another four, only I got shot about six months after. Honorably discharged and all of that.”

“Oh my god!” Liv stops. “I’m so sorry. Are you ok? What happened? Never mind. Sorry. That was rude. And intrusive. I mean. God. Thank you for your service.” She finishes her little outburst by closing her eyes and shaking her head, like she’s chastising herself.

I just chuckle. She’s too fucking cute.

“It’s ok, love. I’m fine. Got a kickass scar and everything,” I wink at her.

Truth is, that bullet tore through my abdomen and I thought I was dead. It took months of rehab and some extensive surgeries, but I’m fine now. I was a little lost without the structure I’d found in the army, however. Coming home was rough. My parents were always kind and loving, but they didn’t understand the darkness that surrounded me when I got back. A buddy of mine who got out of the military a year before me reached out and told me about Chaos MC, over in Sausalito. I patched in a few months later and never looked back.

“Right. And us women just drop our panties when we see a well-placed scar.” She puts the back of her hand on her forehead in a dramatic fashion, tilting her head up and to the side

Before I even think about what I’m doing, I step into her, lean my head down, and ghost my lips on her exposed neck till they reach her ear. I see her pulse racing in her neck but she doesn’t pull away. She smells so fucking good, like some exotic flower. I want to devour her, lick her neck and bite her, leave my mark all over her soft skin.

“What else makes you drop your panties, love?” I quickly step back to give her space. I don’t know what the fuck I was thinking. I know she doesn’t like being touched.

  Fuck.

I can’t seem to control myself around her.

Liv’s eyes are closed. She’s dropped her hand from her head to her chest, like she’s trying to calm her heart down.

Her eyes snap open. “You… you can’t do that,” she says breathily. She’s trying to act indignant, but it’s not working so well.

“I know, I’m sorry.” I take another step back. I never want her to feel uncomfortable around me.

She nods her head and resumes walking towards the bus stop, just a few yards ahead.

“Well, this is me. Thanks for walking with me.”

“Anything for you, Liv.” It sounds like a line, but honest to fuck, I think I might be telling the truth.

  She rolls her eyes.

Her hands go to the open flaps of the leather jacket and she starts to take it off.

  “Thanks for the jacket, too.”

“Keep it,” I say before placing my hands on hers, stopping her from removing the jacket.

  She freezes at my touch.

Fuck. Why do I keep doing this?

She looks up at me, but not with fear in her eyes. It’s desire.

She bites her bottom lip and now all I can think about is sucking it into my mouth.

I pull her ever so slightly towards me, testing the water. She could pull back at any time. Instead, she closes the gap between us, her lips inches away from mine. I dip my head down and keep my eyes on her, watching for any signs of distress. My heart is beating out of my fucking chest. When was the last time I was this nervous or excited to kiss someone?

  Never.

Her eyes close and she parts her lips. That’s all I need to see. I crash my mouth down on hers and suck her tongue inside my mouth. She moans and presses her body into mine. I continue to explore her mouth as her tongue wrestles with mine for control. I fucking love it. All fire and sass. I walk us backwards till her back is against the little bus stop shelter.

I move my hands from around hers and slide them to her back, lower, grabbing her luscious ass and pressing her further into me so she feels my hard cock against her stomach.

Her hands go around my neck, fingers tangling in my hair, nails biting into my scalp. Pain mixes with pleasure and I growl into her mouth.

She wraps one leg around my hips and I grab her thigh to keep it in place. With my other hand still gripping her ass, I angle her hips and start grinding into her. Fuck it feels so good. Too good. I’m about to cum in my damn pants like a teenager.

Liv moans and throws her head back. I take the opportunity to nuzzle her neck, licking and kissing my way from her ear to her collarbone and back again, nipping at her pulse point. I kiss my way back up to her lips, biting her juicy bottom lip before diving back into her mouth.

I’m full on dry humping her against the wall of the bus shelter and I can’t seem to give a single fuck about it. I want more. Liv is practically shaking in my arms, her breaths getting more and more shallow.

I wonder if I can make her cum like this?

I slide my hand from her ass, up her back, and to her hair, pulling it slightly to tilt her head back so I can suck on her neck. My other hand massages her thigh, pulling and pushing her against me.

I scrape my teeth against her collarbone and she whimpers.

“That’s it, baby. Cum for me,” I whisper in her ear before dragging her earlobe between my teeth.

I feel her muscles tense and I rut into her harder, faster, wanting her release as much as my own, more even.

“I want to feel you cum for me, Liv. Let go, baby. I’ve got you. Cum for me. Now!”

Liv bites my shoulder to stifle her scream as her orgasm takes over. It hurts so goddamn good. She throws her head back, pressing her gorgeous tits against my chest, gasping for air as her eyes squeeze shut and I feel her body pulsing with pleasure.

  Fucking beautiful.

I could watch her cum all day. I will, soon enough. Now that I’ve had a little taste, there’s no way I’m not having her in my bed.

I gently set her leg that was wrapped around me on the ground and wrap my arms around her, holding her close while she shakes and comes back down to earth.

I kiss the top of her head and she stares up at me with those hazel eyes full of doubt. She looks so vulnerable in this moment and I want to kiss away all of her questions and insecurities, which isn’t like me at all. Usually, I run from emotions, especially when they come from a woman I’ve just pleasured. I don’t do clingy and I don’t do relationships.

But there’s something about her… I don’t know. I don’t want to let her go. I want to know her as much as I want to be inside of her. I want her stories, her smiles, her pain.

Fuck. This isn’t like me at all.

Liv opens her mouth to say something, but then bright headlights cut through the darkness. She pushes me away and ducks past me, waving her hand for the bus driver to stop. I turn to look at her and she walks onto the bus, turning at the last minute to toss me my jacket.

“Thanks again, Carter.” She has a wicked grin on her face, and any insecurity I thought I saw in her earlier is wiped away, her mask securely back in place.

I’m left leaning against the bus shelter with the most painful hard-on in the history of hard-ons. I wonder, not for the first time today, who the fuck is this woman? I barely know her, but she possesses me completely.

  Chapter 3

  Liv

I’ve officially been a bartender at the Chaos Clubhouse for a month. I still think
about that first night though… I mean, what the hell? I can’t believe I fucking dry humped Carter while waiting for the bus, and that I had a mind-blowing orgasm as a result. And his kisses. Fuck. His kisses were amazing. The way he touched me, tasted me…

  Stop.

It wasn’t just the way he made me feel physically though. He made me laugh, truly laugh. And when I told him I didn’t like being in cars, he didn’t push for more info, he just accepted that that’s how I am and we moved on. I mean, who is this guy? Funny, charming, sexy as fuck, and for some reason, into me. Too bad I’m damaged goods. And not looking for a relationship whatsoever.

So, I’ve kept my distance. I thought things might be awkward the next day, but he was just as charming as ever. I think he’s waiting for me to make the next move. We flirt, share stolen glances, and occasionally he’ll brush his hand with mine or put his hand on the small of my back. But that’s it. It has to be it. I can’t fuck up this job, it’s all I have.

I walk into the bar and get ready for my shift. Stacy and River are behind the bar, she’s laughing at something he said and he reaches out to smack her ass, which makes her laugh even more. They are freaking adorable and I can’t say I’m not a little jealous.

“Liv! Hey honey!” Stacy says as she pushes River away. “He was just leaving.”

River grumbles, but then smiles and winks at me.

“So,” Stacy turns to me once River leaves. “How are you settling in? How are you liking the job, the town, your apartment?”

I chuckle at her enthusiasm. It’s weird having someone ask about me, and actually care about my answers.

“Honestly, this job is everything. I can’t thank you enough for taking a chance on the sassy bitch you met at the bank.”

She laughs and swats me with a towel. “Well everyone here loves you. Especially Carter,” Stacy wiggles her eyebrows.

“Bow-chicka-bow-bow!” I hear Mia sing as she sits down at the bar. I like Mia, she’s with Wren, one of the other guys in Chaos.

“Oh my god, how old are you guys? Fifteen?” I joke.

“Girl, you know I am old enough to be your mother,” Stacy says. “And as such, I have the right to call ‘em like I see ‘em. And I see you and Carter.”
